Final Fantasy XIII is the newest Final Fantasy in development by Square Enix. It is part of a “compilation” of Final Fantasy XIII games. This Compilation is called Fabula Nova Crystallis. These games consist of Final Fantasy XIII, Final Fantasy Versus XIII and Final Fantasy Agito XIII. The games are not sequels to each other by any means, they all just revolve around crystals. Final Fantasy XIII was confirmed at E3 2006 by Square Enix to be “in production” They released the Fabula Nova Crytallis information along with a very fast-pace trailer and a load of screenshots.

Square Enix’s Final Fantasy XIII is the first Final Fantasy on Playstation 3 and is part of the Fabula Nova Crystallis - Final Fantasy XIII compilation. It will be exclusive to the Playstation 3 and will take advantage of the White Engine and the PS3’s motion sensing ability for the using vehicles. Previously planned, and production started on, the Playstation 2, however when the design team saw the power of the Playstation 3 they didnt hesitate to move production over to the PS3. At E32006 Square Enix boasted about how you could look at In-Game graphics and CG animated cutscenes and you could barely tell the difference. The Combat is shown in the trailer and the graphics and speed are extremely impressive, along with the trailer music composed by Nobuo Uematsu has got FF fans worldwide addicted to the trailer.

As for the storyline, the floating City of Cocoon, a huge ship which cuts through the sky, is attacked by its former ally, Pulse which is a city that is situated on the ground. It has been stated that Pulse has a disease which is possibly why they built a town to sail through the air to avoid contact with this disease. A dedicated solider Codename: Lightning is chosen by the city’s crystal to taken them down and make the world hers.
