ps3 info
- Outline
The Playstation 3 is Sony Computer Entertainment’s 3rd console which made its debut in Japan on the 11th November 2006, in America, November 17th 2006 and in the UK and Europe, 23rd March 2006. The PS3 is current in a “console war” competing with the Microsoft Xbox 360 and the Nintendo Wii.
- Versions
It is available in two models. The 20GB version and the 60GB Version. This table weighs up the differences:
| Feature | 20 GB | 60 GB |
|---|---|---|
| Upgradeable hard drive | Yes | Yes |
| Blu-Ray drive | Yes | Yes |
| HDMI port | Yes | Yes |
| Wireless SIXAXIS Controller | Yes | Yes |
| Ethernet Cable | Yes | Yes |
| Chrome strip | No | Yes |
| Built-in Wi-Fi | No | Yes |
| Flash card readers | No | Yes |
As you can see, there are notable differences, though for alot of people i’d imagine the built in Wi-Fi would be a decider. However, the 20GB Playstation 3 will not be available at the launch in Europe, only the more expensive 60GB version. A Sony rep has stated that Europe might be getting the 20GB version if there is a demand for it.

The SIXAXIS controller is the official controller for the Playstation 3. It will be wireless and connect via Bluetooth technology and will have motion sensing functionalities which were shown of at the E3 demo of Warhawk. As of launch, the SIXAXIS controller has no vibration function, however, resent reports suggest that vibration will be implemented at a later date.
